If your child is going to be absent from school please call the school office 0131 441 2948 and choose option 1 to leave a message.
Please give your child’s name, class and reason for absence.

We aim to ensure that:

• all children and young people are supported in accessing a full education through positive attendance and timekeeping.

• parents are provided with key information with regards to school absences, and are provided with the relevant support when required.

• school staff can uphold their professional responsibilities in monitoring attendance and can take appropriate action with regards to attendance concerns.

The City of Edinburgh Council expects pupils to attend school regularly, ideally every day, though 95% is considered good attendance.

We follow The City of Edinburgh Council procedures, monitoring attendance on a fortnightly basis, and reporting to parents monthly when a pupil’s attendance falls below 85%.

As a school, we can support families with increasing their child’s attendance. If you would like to discuss this, please contact Miss Ramage or Miss Fairgrieve who will be happy to meet with you.

Exceptional Circumstances

Occasionally there are exceptional circumstances which may require a learner to be absent from school. Requests such as these, should be made in advance of the period of absence if possible. Each case will be reviewed in consultation with the Head Teacher and school Attendance Lead. Information on making such requests is below and paper copies are available from the school office on request.
The Absence Request due to Exceptional Circumstances form must be filled in by parent/carers and submitted to the Head Teacher. The school can authorise requests for up to a maximum of 10 school days, beyond this, authorisation must be provided by the Education Wellbeing Service Team Leader.
